The C.Y.B.O.R.G.'s journey and event points.
(Click this image to see it larger, which I intend to make into an image map with clickable areas on the map that will describe the event points).

This is a 2D representation of The C.Y.B.O.R.G.’s journey and event points, and is as scientifically accurate as I could make it: The stars are all real and in their correct locations (of course it is not to scale – the distances we are discussing are incomprehensible to me), within a 25 light year distance from our sun (Sol), and have been determined to have planets within the habitable zone capable of sustaining life.

You have to look at it like this, though, to get an idea of three dimensions: imagine you are hovering over a swimming pool (our galaxy) and the stars are in the pool – some of them are near the surface, others stars are in the middle or on the bottom. Same as a road map – when you look at a street map going from Missouri to California, it just shows the lines depicting highways, not the fact that you’re going over the Rockies.

I would LOVE to do something like this (by Krystian Majewski) showing the journey in 3D, but that is far beyond my capabilities – I’m just a songwriter. It’s like Bones saying to Captain Kirk, “Dammit Kirk, I’m just a doctor, not software engineer!”.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!.
